Noah Duby (25) is a senior football player at Cloverdale who also competes in track and field.

Banner Graphic: Describe your activities at Cloverdale.

Noah Duby: “I played running back in football and I am a pole vaulter in track. Besides school sports, I also do rodeo, FFA and Spanish Club.”

BG: How did you get involved in rodeo?

ND: “Since I was three, my mom married my stepdad and he had horses. I was riding them when I was little, and now I do team roping, ride broncos and living life.”

BG: How did football go this year for you?

ND: “Football was much better than it had been. We ran a lot more, ran a lot more plays and had a much better offense for the players we had. Everybody got playing time, and worked together as a unit.”

BG: What goals do you have for the remainder of your time at Cloverdale?

ND: “I want to graduate with academic honors and represent the school well. Maybe come back someday and be a coach or trainer at the school.”

BG: What other interests do you have?

ND: “Hunting, fishing, hanging out with friends, coming to our basketball games, just having a great time. I use a shotgun in deer season and I also duck hunt. I like to watch movies when I can. I like ‘Avatar,’ ‘Die Hard,’ and action movies like that.”

BG: Is there anything you have never done before that you would like to do someday?

ND: “Skydiving. I’m an adrenaline junkie looking for the thrill.”

BG: Describe your time at Cloverdale.

ND: “The teachers and my friends make it a great time. I always enjoy coming to school, seeing everybody every day smiling in the hallway. Teachers are very personable and make it a great situation. I have had a lot of great classes here — economics, government, biology and animal science have been among them. Mr. Michael Nees has really helped me in the resource room, any time I need help with anything he was there the whole time.”

BG: What are your plans for after high school?

ND: “I am going to Murray State in Kentucky to become a chiropractor for both equine and humans.”

BG: That’s an interesting career. How did you decide upon that?

ND: “Horses have a much larger vertebrae than humans and can have more problems with their backs. It’s more difficult to work with equine than humans for that reason. We have to take a lot of my horses and get them readjusted all the time, I figured I could just learn how to do it and do well at it. I have always liked going to the chiropractor and getting straightened out.”

BG: You’re going to be playing in the Wabash Valley Football Coaches Association all-star game this summer. What does that mean to you?

ND: “I am extremely excited about it. My friend Zeb Holder and I both got accepted, and I can’t wait for the meetings, the practices and to play with my new teammates. It’s my final game, so I have to go out with a bang. I’ve been working out, and coach Meyer has been helping me to stay ready for it.”
