100 Women Who Care now enrolling new members

Sunday, January 29, 2017

The 100 Women Who Care of Putnam County will be enrolling new members at its first meeting of 2017, set for Wednesday, Feb. 1.

The first quarterly meeting will take place at The Inn at DePauw, 2 W. Seminary St., Greencastle.

The remaining dates for 2017 are May 3, Aug. 2 and Nov. 1.

The philanthropic group of women began its efforts in 2014 to assist organizations of Putnam County in achieving their goal whether project-oriented, short-term or long-term. Since the first meeting three years ago, this group has raised and given more than $100,000 to local organizations while building an endowment for the benefit of Putnam County’s future.

Each member commits to donating $500 per year of membership. The first $100 is used to support an endowment fund within the Putnam County Community Foundation. The remaining $400 is used to support four nonprofit organizations selected throughout the year, potentially creating a $40,000 impact. Come ready to nominate and present.

The group needs 100 women and more to join together to make this happen.

A social hour will start at 5 p.m. with the meeting at 6 lasting about an hour. Members may bring literature to promote the 501c3 organizations they support.

At each quarterly meeting, the women nominate, present and select a nonprofit organization. Each member then contributes $100 to that chosen organization.
