PENDLETON -- The recent theft of a truck from Cloverdale led to the arrest of an Indianapolis man and woman late Friday evening after the stolen vehicle they were driving broke down on Interstate 69 in Madison County.

Just before midnight Friday, Trooper Jason Girt was sent to check on a report of a disabled Dodge pickup southbound on I-69 around the 216-mile marker.

When Girt arrived he found a male driver and a female passenger, who said the truck was out of gas.

Trooper Girt agreed to take them to a nearby station, but after doing some further investigation, he found the truck they had been driving was reported stolen from Cloverdale on Wednesday.

The man and woman, who had no I.D. on their person, were later identified as Michael Arthur, 37, and Shaanna Howell, 36, both of Indianapolis.

They were lodged in the Madison County Jail, charged with theft of a vehicle, a Level 6 felony.

In addition Howell was found to be wanted on warrants out of Vigo County and Marion County.
