Noble Orvin Van Hook

Noble Orvin Van Hook, 88, of Coatesville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017 in Greencastle.

Born Feb. 22, 1928 in Somerset, Ky., he was the son of Josiah Van Hook and Bertha (O'Neil) Van Hook.

He married Norene Carlton on April 1, 1966, and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage.

Noble had worked for the Hendricks County Highway Department, then did construction work before going to work at Rexnard for 12 years.

He enjoyed bluegrass music, mushroom hunting, gardening and was a member of the Cloverdale Church of the Nazarene.

Noble is survived by his wife, Norene; four daughters, Nora (Mike) Tucker, Bainbridge, Nicole Gibson (Mark), Danville, Erica Thompson, Crawfordsville, and Erin (Adam) Batta, Greencastle, as well as helping raise his grandson, Stephen Gibson (Anna); 11 grandchildren, Stephen Gibson, Dani Heller, Alex Heller, Altera Harris, Cheyenne Gibson, Autumn Thompson, Mikey Thompson, Reilly Tucker, Shaylee Aker, Adrien Aker and Braylon Batta; five great-grandchildren; three siblings, Jessie Cox, Brownsburg, Wanda Fuqua, Indianapolis, and Onvie VanHook, Somerset, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Beulah Bumgardner, Arlis Van Hook, Edna Mounce, Agnes Herrin, Orville Van Hook, Harold Van Hook, Howard Lee Van Hook; three infant siblings and great-grandson Julian Thomas Maynard.

Services will be conducted at Bousley Funeral Home, Coatesville. Visitation will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, followed by funeral services with Pastor Bill Purcell officiating.

A burial service for the family will be at Coatesville Cemetery.
