Put your heart into buying local for Valentine’s Day

Are you looking for something to do on Valentine’s Day? The Greater Greencastle Chamber of Chamber would like to urge Putnam County residents to Buy Local.

Here are a few local options provided by Chamber Executive Director Brian Cox, who has pledged that the Chamber’s Buy Local Campaign will be stressed more in 2017:

• Putnam Inn is offering a steak and crab leg buffet on Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 4-9 p.m. The PI will also have its chocolate fountain with all the fixings. All for $21.95 for adults with kids 12 and under eating free every Tuesday. However, on Feb. 14 if your child would like crab legs and steak there will be a $10 charge.

• Almost Home is having fresh flounder with asparagus and blue crab topped with Pinot Grigio cream sauce from 5-9 p.m. on Feb. 14. To make reservations, call 653-5788.

• Wasser Brewery is offering a three-course meal starting with eggplant caponata followed by pepper-crusted beef tenderloin with chocolate-port sauce, buttered mashed potatoes and sauteed baby carrots ending with chocolate cake with chocolate ganache all for $35 per person add a beer pairing for only $10. It is available 4:30-10 p.m. Feb. 14 with War Radio playing from 7-10 p.m. Go to wasserbrewing.com to make reservations.

• Bon Appetit at Wallace Stewart Commons (inside DePauw University’s Hoover Hall) will be serving seared filet of beef, maytag blue cheese mashed potatoes, spinach and baby carrot sautee, cabernet reduction or seared striped bass, sunchoke and potato gratin, roasted asparagus with white truffle oil drizzle followed with desert of the house-made flourless chocolate cake with raspberry sauce from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Feb. 14. Dinner will also be served with a salad and a vegan option all for $29.95 per person. Reservations available to be made at catering@depauw.edu (suggested but not required).

• Tap House 24 is offering a special menu of nips, nibbles, nashes and chocolates for two at $60 per couple. Reservations recommended by calling 765-301-9800.

• Eitel’s & Co. Florist has a gift for you to give your valentine, the gift of beautiful flowers from the store’s signature romantic bouquets that are all arranged by hand. Eitel’s will be celebrating its 108th Valentine’s Day. Enjoy a free rose with any Valentine purchase of $35 or more. Mention “free rose” (not good w/any other offer). • Completely Nuts and Candy has sweets for your sweetie with its homemade chocolates and other creations. Stop in and have a personally made box of candy or even a candy bouquet created.

“These are just a few options when it comes to buying local,” Chamber Executive Director Cox said.

“Remember when you buy local, more than 68 percent of the money stays local,” he added. “Showing your loved ones you care while showing your community you care.”
