GHS band students fare well at solo, ensemble contests

TERRE HAUTE -- Members of the Greencastle High School Band participated in the ISSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest Saturday, Jan. 28 at Terre Haute North High School.

Students are judged on their performance by professional musicians from across the state.

There are five divisions they may enter, with Group I being the most difficult. If they receive a gold rating in Group I, they are eligible to compete in the State Solo and Ensemble Contest at North Central High School on Saturday, Feb. 25.

Here are the results from the GHS students.

GROUP III

Gold rating: Brass Quarter, Drake Eisele, Taven Noll, Donovan Asbell, Addison Hughes.

Silver rating: Adrian Peters, trumpet solo.

Bronze rating: Adrian Peters, baritone sax solo.

GROUP II

Gold rating: Mika Mozawa, flute solo, Michael White, trumpet solo, Addison Hughes, trumpet solo.

Silver rating: Josh Lamb, snare drum solo.

GROUP I

Gold rating: Ben Parsons, alto sax solo, Ben Wilkerson, trombone solo, John Brook, baritone solo, Drake Eisele, tuba solo, Sax Quartet, Ben Parsons, Katie Kessler, Madi Woodall, Simon Foss.

The Greencastle High School Band is under the direction of Robert Hedge.
