Contractors' Workshop on tap Feb. 16 at Area 30

The City of Greencastle is sponsoring a free Contractors' Workshop Thursday, Feb. 16 at the Area 30 Career Center, 1 N. Calbert Way, Greencastle.

The program is open to all local contractors and is free of charge.

However, RSVPs are requested by Feb. 10 online at GOO.GL/V.INDXH or by calling 655-2303.

On Feb. 16, registration begins at 9 a.m. with coffee, juice and pastries.

Greencastle Mayor Bill Dory will make opening remarks on the value of relationships with local contractors.

The mayor and department heads will then talk about working with the City of Greencastle, addressing about such items as street cuts, road closures, dumpsters, tap fees and more.

Other segments of the program will include Daniel McMains of Duke Energy speaking about working with Duke and Del Schroeder of the State Fire Marshal's Office talking about code enforcement.

City Building Commissioner Patrick Thibodeau will address permits and fees, inspections and Indiana energy code compliance.

The two-mile fringe, MS4 issues and the public bidding process will be topics for City Planner Shannon Norman.

The meeting will include a working lunch with a meal provided.
