Cloverdale, Eminence to partner on grant

Friday, February 10, 2017

CLOVERDALE -- Cloverdale Community Schools and Eminence Community Schools will partner to analyze and identify the strengths and needs of their current counseling initiatives in order to develop a sustainable comprehensive counseling model.

Staff members from both districts will conduct site visits, research and analyze best practices, and engage parents, students and community partners to assist with the planning phase of the Comprehensive Counseling Initiative.

In addition to helping public school corporations and charter schools assess their current counseling programs and identify best practices in comprehensive counseling efforts, planning grants will help recipients prepare implementation grant proposals to fund their strategies to improve their counseling programs.

Implementation grant proposals are due to Lilly Endowment by May 19, 2017. Applicants may request up to $100 per enrolled student, and amounts of the implementation grants will range from $100,000 to $3 million. The implementation grant phase is competitive. Notification of implementation grant approvals is expected by Sept. 30, 2017.

“We are very pleased to have been selected as a recipient of this grant award,” Eminence Superintendent Jeff Gibboney said. “I believe this process will allow us to continue to make improvements to the services and programs we offer to our students and families. I would like to thank the Lilly Endowment for their commitment to support students in our community and across Indiana.”

Greg Linton, superintendent of the Cloverdale School Corporation, echoed the comments of Gibboney.

“We are grateful to the Lilly Endowment for selecting Cloverdale Community Schools as a recipient of the Comprehensive Counseling Initiative Planning Grant,” Linton said. “We are excited to have the opportunity to receive the planning grant, which will aide in the development of programs that will increase and improve the current counseling services we provide our students. I extend my appreciation to the selection committee and look forward to our continued work in supporting our students.”
