PUTNAMVILLE -- The Putnamville Correctional Facility and Superintendent Brian Smith announce the promotion of Sgt. Rob Evans to lieutenant.

“It is great to promote staff that have such a long history with not only our facility, but the department in so many different areas,“ Superintendent Smith said.

Evans started his career in 1997 as a correctional officer, during which time he worked numerous positions, including housing unit officer, street officer, quick response team officer and transportation officer. In 2012 he was promoted to sergeant and graduated from the IDOC Leadership Academy.

In 2013 Evans moved from the custody ranks to become the training officer at Putnamville. While working in the training department, he was assigned as the instructor for the West Regional Training Academy and was responsible for the training of all new staff attending the West Regional Correctional Training Academy.

In late 2015 he returned to custody as a correctional sergeant assigned to supervising offender housing units, and was certified as a field training officer.

Evans graduated from the IDOC Investigations and Intelligence Facility Investigator Academy and the IDOC Experienced and Emerging Leadership (EEL) program.

He is also a member of the Putnamville Correctional Facility Canine Team and will continue his K-9 duties as well as be assigned as an assistant shift supervisor.
