CLOVERDALE -- A 30-year-old Owen County man, apparently fearing discovery of his outstanding warrant, was arrested Tuesday afternoon after fleeing police in Cloverdale, Indiana State Police at Putnamville reported.

Adam Lee Falk

The incident unfolded about 4 p.m. Tuesday as Indiana State Police (ISP) Trooper Colton Maynor was conducting a traffic stop on U.S. 231 in Cloverdale when a second and unrelated vehicle drove up behind Maynor's police car.

The female driver of the second vehicle immediately informed the trooper that her boyfriend, Adam Lee Falk of Spencer, was wanted on a warrant and had spotted the ISP squad car as Trooper Maynor was making the traffic stop. The suspect panicked and jumped from her car, she said.

She gave a physical description of the suspect, and at approximately 4:30 p.m., Trooper Maynor noticed Falk walking near U.S. 231 and activated his lights.

The suspect fled on foot, evading authorities until approximately 5 p.m. when officers found him on the floor of the U.S. Post Office in Cloverdale.

Falk was taken into custody without incident and incarcerated in the Putnam County Jail.

Originally wanted for arrest on an Owen County warrant for a misdemeanor count of violation of probation for invasion of privacy, Falk is now facing the added charge of resisting law enforcement as a result of Tuesday's indiscretions.

Assisting Maynor in the arrest were ISP Trooper James Crisp, Putnam County Sheriff's Deputy Matt Biggs and Cloverdale Police Sgt. Charlie Hallam.
