Miller named 500 Festival Princess
A Greencastle resident and current DePauw University sophomore was recently named an Indianapolis 500 Festival Princesses for 2017.
Quinci Miller is a 2015 graduate of Greencastle High School who is majoring in communications with a minor in business administration at DePauw. She is the daughter of Thomas Miller and Linda Christy.
Representing the number of cars in the Indianapolis 500 starting field each year, the 33 princesses represent 13 Indiana colleges and universities and 22 cities and towns across the state.
With a cumulative GPA of 3.7, this year’s 500 Festival Princesses were selected based on communication skills, academic performance and community involvement.
The princesses represent the 500 Festival and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at public events such as the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon, the 500 Festival Parade and of course the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 28.
Each 500 Festival Princess will participate in the program’s personal and professional development initiative, with a goal of empowering participants to make an impact within their community and the state of Indiana. In addition, each 500 Festival Princess will receive a $1,000 scholarship, made possible by Marlyne Sexton, an Indianapolis philanthropist and president of The Sexton Companies.
One of the 33 princesses will also be chosen as the 2017 500 Festival Queen.
