Beech Grove UMC to celebrate 60 years since reopening

Beech Grove United Methodist Church will celebrate the 60th anniversary of reopeningthe church on Sunday, March 12.

Worship service is at 11 a.m. with a pitch-in dinner to follow.

The church was closed for six years before a petition was taken around in 1957 by Hila Brattain and Mary Sholwiler, both deceased, and Helen Knauer, who remains an active member of Beech Grove.

Helen will present the history of the reopening on Sunday morning and what these ladies had to do to reopen the church.

Pastor Frank Brasel is the current minister and his wife Faith serves alongside him.

Church members invite everyone to come join them. Anyone with any connection to the church is especially welcome.

The churhc is located in Putnam County near the Parke County line, three miles south of U.S. 36.
