County Jail

Eighteen people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Monday

• At 6:35 p.m. Jessica Ann (Kenworthy) Bushong, 32, Fillmore, was lodged at the jail for criminal trespass.

• At 4:10 p.m. Robert Wayne Barnett, 56, Greencastle, was taken into custody for parole violation.

• At 1:57 p.m. Steven Matthew Carman, 29, Indianapolis, was arrested for contempt of court.

• At 12:57 p.m. Brian Joseph Skeen, 48, Terre Haute, was housed at the jail for driving after forfeiture of license for life.

• At 12:26 p.m. Rodney Milton Moore, 25, Greencastle, booked in on a court order.

• At 12:04 p.m. Ashley Heather Wagner, 31, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a court order.

• At 11:19 p.m. Michael Dominique Hughes, 30, Greencastle, was charged with contempt of court.

• At 11:04 a.m. Christopher E. Gerlach, 28, Coatesville, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 10:27 a.m. Charles Perry Cooper, 29, Greencastle, was arrested for contempt of court.

• At 10:23 a.m. Jacob Del Stidham, 36, Greencastle, was housed at the jail on a Marion County warrant.

• At 9:54 a.m. Bruce Lee Artis, 42, Cloverdale, was charged with contempt of court.

Sunday

• At 9:24 p.m. Pamela Ann Scott, 42, Russellville, was booked in on a local warrant.

• At 12:09 a.m. Jamison David McKnight, 47, Fort Wayne, was lodged at the jail for driving with a suspended license and driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction.

Saturday

• At 7:53 p.m. Jon Luke McGuff, 28, Cloverdale, was taken into custody on a Montgomery County warrant.

• At 6:44 p.m. Trey Michael Vickrey, 25, Greencastle, was charged with theft, possession of paraphernalia, unlawful possession of a syringe and possession of methamphetamine.

• At 5:33 p.m. Dustin Tyler Hardcastle, 28, Indianapolis, was housed at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 10:58 a.m. Fount Thomas Brock, 36, Greencastle, was booked in on a pair of local warrants.

Friday

• At 2:16 a.m. Christopher Lamont Shelton Jr., 20, Indianapolis, was lodged at the jail on a Marion County warrant.

City Police

Two recent property-damage accidents were investigated by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 1:38 p.m. Sunday, a minor mishap occurred as Shirley Hale, 78, Elnora, was turning off Seminary Street onto Market Street and heard a loud noise from under the hood of her 2005 Hyundai.

Hale reportedly lost control of the car as the power steering quit, causing the vehicle to sideswipe a parked 2012 Ford Edge, owned by James Haltom, Coatesville.

Total damage was estimated by Capt. Chris Jones at $1,000-$2,500.

• At 10:48 p.m. Friday, a one-vehicle accident was reported on Illinois Street near Hanna Street as Scott Oezer, 52, Anderson, was driving a 2017 Freightliner semi, owned by Transport Inc., Fishers, through the alley at 407 Illinois St.

Oezer told Capt. Jones he did not see his trailer strike an electrical box and cable box but noticed the powerline swaying and tried to back up.

The electrical and cable boxes and guttering were torn from the south side of the house owned by William Long, Capt. Jones reported.

Damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to six recent property-damage crashes.

• At 9:34 p.m. on Monday, Julie M. Mullins, 21, Cincinnati, was eastbound on Interstate 70 in a 2002 Honda Civic, crossing a bridge near the 39-mile marker.

The bridge was ice-covered and Mullins lost control, traveling into the median and hitting the cable barrier.

Mullins was evaluated for shoulder pain and released.

Deputy Jeffery Freeman estimated damage at $5,001-$10,000. The car was towed.

• At 11:40 a.m. on Monday, Jill C. Edwards, 60, Centerpoint, was eastbound on County Road 800 South, preparing to turn onto U.S. 231 in a 2008 Honda Odyssey. Robert W. Franklin, 78, Avon, was eastbound approaching the intersection in a 2003 Ford F150.

Franklin told Reserve Deputy Rick Lambert he did not realize Edwards’ vehicle was stopped, think it would turn southbound onto 231. He could not stop in time and rear-ended the other vehicle.

Edwards’ vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on County Road 650 North.

Caitlin N. Litts, 24, Brownsburg, had been eastbound in a 2008 Honda Civic.

The investigation by Deputy Matt Biggs and Bainbridge Officer Mike Downing indicated Litts had driven off the road, through a field and into a creek.

Litts was able to get out of the vehicle and walk to a nearby residence. She then apparently returned to the vehicle and got in it to stay out of the elements.

She could not tell officers the time or reason for the crash.

Downing detected the odor of alcoholic beverage and administered a portable breath test, which registered within the legal limit at .02.

The car was towed. Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, Kayla A. Potts, 18, Paragon, was southbound on County Road 425 East about a half-mile south of County Road 900 South in a 2005 Dodge Dakota when a deer ran into the road.

Potts swerved, overcorrected and left the east side of the road, where she hit a utility pole.

The truck was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 4:50 a.m. on Friday, James L. Henrich, 58, Decatur, Ill., was eastbound on U.S. 36 about one mile west of the Parke County line in a 2011 Mitsubishi Eclipse when he hit a deer.

The car was towed. Deputy Freeman estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to six dispatches and six lift assists.

• At 9 p.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 904 S. College Ave. but was disregarded en route, returning to station at 9:03 p.m.

• At 12:57 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to reports of a downed power line at 407 S. Illinois St. GFD provided road security for passersby until Duke Energy could resolve the issue. GFD subsequently returned to station at 1:40 p.m.

• At 1:23 p.m. on Friday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 24 S. Indiana St. but was disregarded en route, returning to station at 1:25 p.m.

• At 10:42 p.m. on Friday, GFD assisted the Reelsville Fire Department in extinguishing a structure fire at 9274 S. County Road 500 West. GFD also assisted the neighboring department with the salvage and overhaul of the barn structure. GFD subsequently returned to station at 11:59 p.m.

• At 12:11 p.m. on Saturday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to smoking at 208 E. Olive St., returning to station at 12:24 p.m.

• At 10:38 p.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 208 E. Olive St. GFD reset the alarm are returned to station at 10:54 p.m.
