Wednesday, March 15, 2017

A Greencastle woman was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital for head injuries following a Tuesday-night crash in Clinton Township.

Around 9:45 p.m., 21-year-old Mandi Leonard was westbound on County Road 350 North, west of County Road 325 West, about halfway between Brick Chapel and Clinton Falls.

Leonard later told Putnam County sheriff’s Deputy Jeffery Freeman she was traveling “way too fast” for the road when her 2013 Kia Rio left the roadway.

The compact car entered a ditch and began flipping end over end multiple times, traveling about 90 yards before it came to rest in a yard.

Freeman reported that Leonard sustained major head trauma as well as leg injuries. She was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital.

The severely damaged car had to be towed. A fence was also heavily damaged in the accident. Freeman estimated damages at $10,001-$25,000.
