Featured Athlete of the Week: Dylan Wood, South Putnam

Thursday, March 16, 2017

Dylan Wood is a senior baseball player at South Putnam. He attended Greencastle as a freshman and transferred to South Putnam for his last three years.

Banner Graphic: What kinds of things do you do besides baseball and school activities?

Dylan Wood: “Any chance I get I’m hanging out with friends and going to the bowling alley or Sky Zone. I’m not a very good bowler, but it’s fun. Every now and then I enjoy a nice day of playing video games. I enjoy science fiction movies like ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Star Trek’ and some scary movies. I go to 4-H activities to support my friends who are doing it, and they come to watch me play baseball. I love going to Florida with my grandparents. That’s my all-time favorite place to eat; they have the best food ever.”

BG: Do you have any pets?

DW: “I have two dogs and a cat. The dogs are Havanese (Sadie and Libby), and my cat is Buster. We don’t know what breed he is, but he looks like Garfield.”

BG: What is something you’ve never done before that you would like to do someday?

DW: “Skydiving. I think the thrill of jumping out of a plane would be great.”

BG: Talk about your high school career.

DW: “The teachers at South Putnam have really helped me education-wise to prepare for college. They have all been here to help me grow. I have only had Mr. [Brady] Rhodes this year, but as a person knowing him the three years I’ve been here. Mrs. [Tiffany] Dickson and Mrs. [Bethany] LeBlanc have also been here for me a great deal, especially during the hard times when I didn’t understand something.”

BG: What are your plans for after high school?

DW: “I have signed to play baseball at Campbellsville University in Kentucky and I plan to major in mathematics and minor in either criminal justice or computer software. I haven’t decided what I want to do after college. I’ve thought about getting into law enforcement like FBI or something else in the government.”

BG: What is your favorite food?

DW: “Spaghetti.”
