PUTNAMVILLE -- A 23-year-old Monroe County man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to traffic narcotics with an inmate or inmates at the Putnamville Correctional Facility (PFC).

Tyler Shawn Bryant, of Ellettsville, was arrested by correctional police officers Fernell Keith McDonald and David Wire for two Level 5 felonies, attempted trafficking with an inmate and possession of narcotics, on Thursday, March 16 at PCF.

He is currently lodged in the Putnam County Jail, being held on $10,000 cash bond.

Bryant is a representative of Aramark, which provides food and uniform service at Putnamville.

Bryant was intercepted by the Office of Investigations and Intelligence upon entering the facility. He was interrogated and subsequently surrendered narcotics and was taken to the Putnam County Jail.

His vehicle was also impounded, searched and additional narcotics were found inside.

Investigators expect to file additional charges for the additional drugs located within the vehicle.

More arrests are also expected for other individuals involved and the investigation is ongoing.

"We take trafficking into our facility very seriously and plan to prosecute to the fullest extent," Supt. Brian Smith said. "We are concerned the most for our fellow staff, visitors and offenders staying safe and secure at all times."
