Darrell Gene Thompson

Darrell Gene Thompson, 85, Roachdale, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at Hendricks Regional Health.

He was born on Jan. 28, 1932 in Montgomery County to the late Sherman and Mildred (Harshbarger) Thompson.

In May 1954 he married Deloris "Dodie" Ann Bridges. Mrs. Thompson survives.

Darrell graduated from Roachdale High School in 1950. He then served our country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Fort Knox.

Darrell worked as an operating engineer for Burns Construction for many years until he started, owned and operated Thompson Construction.

He was avid trap shooter and enjoyed hunting, archery, fishing and spending time outdoors.

He was a member of North Salem Masonic Lodge and Roachdale Gun Club.

He is survived by his wife, "Dodie," Sherry (Bill) Berry; four grandchildren, Shawn (Nikki) Berry, Natalie Rinehart, Jordan Berry and Brad (Kathy) Batman; eight grandchildren; and sisters Sharron Rathjen and Connie Inman. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Deborah Thompson and brother Robert Thompson.
