Helen L. Hansel Poynter, 89, of Greencastle, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Hickory Creek at Sunset.

Helen was born Dec. 11, 1927 in Putnam County to Gale and Evelyn (Branneman) Baugh.

She was a 1946 graduate of Cloverdale High School.

In addition to being a homemaker to her family, Helen worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Skelton-Skinner Lumber Co. in Greencastle for 13 years prior to her retiring in 1989.

Helen was a member of Hanna Street Baptist Church where she taught Sunday and Bible School. She was a former member of Union Valley Baptist Church in Belle Union where she served as church clerk and also taught Bible and Sunday school.

Survivors include her sons, W. Douglas Hansel (Diana) and Fred Hansel (Terri); daughters, Sandra Turner and Barbara G. Lewis (Jerry); sisters-in-law, Lauralee Baugh and Sheraley Ann Grubbs; 17 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Everett Hansel; second husband, F.M Allee, and third husband, Earl Poynter; son Timothy K. Hansel, two brothers, four sisters and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, March 31 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband Everett in New Providence Cemetery.
