Roland L. 'RJ' Jones

Roland L. ("RJ") Jones, of Greencastle, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the age of 83.

He was born on Feb. 19, 1934 in Carbon, Ind., to Elsie (Baker) and David Jones.

He served in the U.S. Navy from April 1953 to April 1957 as a radar petty officer 2nd class.

He married Lila Eaglin on June 15, 1956, and they had two sons, Randy (Elaine) of Quitman, Ga., and Tony (Charri) of Brownsburg.

Roland (RJ) is survived by his wife and two sons; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; sister Mildred Zambenini of Brazil, sister Kay Stearley of Lake Orion, Mich., and brother Gordon Jones of Brazil, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother David Jones, sisters Maxine Thomas and Pauline Gaskill-Smith, all of Iowa, and sister Georgina Cunningham-McCallister of Brazil.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Greencastle Elks Lodge at 7 p.m. Monday, April 3.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Roland's memory to the American Cancer Society.
