County tourneys slated Saturday

Greencastle will host the Putnam County baseball and softball tournaments on Saturday.

North Putnam is the defending champion in baseball, and meets South Putnam in the opener at 10 a.m.

The Eagles won a pair of one-run games over North Putnam this week.

The second game, which will start 45 minutes after the completion of the first game, features Cloverdale against Greencastle.

Greencastle was 2-2 in its first four games, while Cloverdale was 1-2 entering Thursday night games at Emineince.

The championship game will be 45 minutes after the completion of the second game.

In softball, Cloverdale is the defending champion and opens the tourney against Greencastle at 10 a.m.

The Clovers have won five of their first six games this season, while Greencastle lost its first two contests and has been slowed by weather from further game action.

North Putnam and South Putnam will meet in the second game, which will be 45 minutes after the first game.

The teams have split in games so far this season.

The championship game will be 45 minutes after the completion of the second game.

There are no consolation games.
