Robert R. 'Bob' Cooper

Robert R. "Bob" Cooper, 91, of Brazil, formerly of Greencastle, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017.

Born June 22, 1925 in Greencastle, he was the son of Hubert Earl and Dorothy Louise (Allen) Cooper Sr.

He was a 1943 graduate of Greencastle High School.

He married Betty Jane (Estep) Cooper on Dec. 1, 1944, and she preceded him in death.

Bob started at the IBM plant in Greencastle on its opening day and stayed with IBM until his retirement in 1987.

He had previously farmed in Putnam County and delivered newspapers for the Banner Graphic and the Indianapolis Star.

When Bob wasn't working he loved to play fish and play golf. He was a member of Greencastle Elks Lodge 1077 for 64 years.

He is survived by his son, Mark Allen (Mary) Cooper; grandchildren Alissa Davidson, Travis, Audrey and Austin Cooper; five great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law Donna Cooper.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; son Rodney "Rod" Cooper; his parents; and a brother, Hubert Cooper Jr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 20 at Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home, Greencastle. Interment to follow at Brick Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory to the family to assist with funeral arrangements or to the American Cancer Society.
