Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to five recent property-damage crashes.

• At 8:22 a.m. on Monday, Stephanie R. Alcorn, 27, Greencastle, was westbound on County Road 300 South in a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu.

Alcorn told Capt. Tom Helmer that her car drifted off the travel portion of the road and across the grass/dirt shoulder.

She tried to regain control but the vehicles right front tire hit a large tree stump, causing the right front wheel and axle to break free and hit the right front fender of a 1992 GMC pickup parked in the front yard at 3289 W. CR 300 South.

After impact, Alcorn’s car traveled back across both lanes of the road, leaving the south side and hitting a fence.

Alcorn had minor injuries from the seat belt and airbag but declined treatment.

The damaged truck was registered to Lisa M. Parker. Damage was estimated at $10,001-$25,000.

Madison Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.

• At 9 p.m. on Sunday, Jeffrey K. Frimpong, 22, Chicago, was westbound on Interstate 70 in a 2002 Jeep Liberty attempting to pull to the right side to assist a stranded motorist.

Frimpong told Deputy Jeffery Freeman he turned right abruptly, entering the ditch.

The vehicle had to be pulled from the ditch but Freeman observed no damage, estimating it to be less than $1,000.

• At approximately 10 p.m. on Thursday, Jodi M. Dixon, 40, Roachdale, was eastbound on State Road 236 approaching the intersection with U.S. 231 in a 2010 Ford Escape.

Dixon told Deputy Jacob Harrington a deer ran in front of her vehicle and she tried to avoid the collision. She said that in doing so, she traveled through the 231 intersection without stopping, colliding with a sign on the east side of the highway.

The driver continued to her residence before notifying police.

Harrington reported finding no evidence of evasive maneuvers at the scene of the accident.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 7:55 a.m. on Thursday, Angelica R. Williams, 19, Russellville, was stopped eastbound in traffic on Pat Rady Way (U.S. 36) in Bainbridge, just west of Washington Street, in a 2005 Ford Escape.

South pulled left of center into the westbound lane in order to turn into Casey’s General Store. Williams did not see South’s vehicle in the other lane and also began to turn into the gas station, causing the two vehicles to collide.

Deputy Matt Biggs estimated damage at $1,001-$2,500.

• At 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, Jessica D. Tarr, 30, Greencastle, was northbound on County Road 175 East in a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze when a deer ran into her fight front fender.
