A 22-year-old Greencastle man was arrested Thursday on the charge of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Nathan Trumbo was arrested by Greencastle Police Officer Darrel Bunten at an Ohio Street residence and booked in the Putnam County Jail at 2:48 p.m.

The Level 5 felony charge was filed in Putnam Circuit Court and an arrest warrant issued in late March.

Police uncovered Trumbo’s alleged wrongdoing while investigating an accusation of sexual assault in early March.

At that time, a teenage girl claimed to have been sexually assaulted by Trumbo. In the course of his investigation, GPD Det. Michael Collins discovered that the alleged victim and her mother did not want to pursue charges against Trumbo.

However, Collins also discovered that Trumbo and the girl had a history dating back to before the girl turned 16.

By the admission of both Trumbo and the girl, they performed consensual sexual acts when she was 14 and 15 and Trumbo was at least 18.

Based on these findings, Collins turned the case over to the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office and the charge was filed on March 29.
