Local property tax statements mailed

Tuesday, April 18, 2017

Property tax statements for 2017 have been mailed, Putnam County Treasurer Kathy Minnick announced on Monday.

Property owners who do not receive their statements by Friday, April 28 may inquire about the status by contacting the Treasurer’s Office at 653-4510 or treasurer@putnamcountyin.us.

Failure to receive a statement does not relieve owners of paying taxes or the penalties that may be due.

The first tax installment is due Wednesday, May 10. The second installment is due Monday, Nov. 13.

As in years past, property taxes may be paid at any of the Putnam County branches of First National Bank, North Salem State Bank, Old National Bank or Tri-County Bank and Trust.

In order to complete the transaction at the bank, taxpayers must have their statements on hand. Banks will not take a payment after the due date.

Taxes may also be paid at the Putnam County Treasurer’s Office, second floor of the Putnam County Courthouse, or by mail at P.O. Box 508, Greencastle, IN 46135.

To ensure a penalty is not added, the envelope must be postmarked on or before the due date.

The Putnam County Treasurer’s Office will accept cash, check, money order, credit cards or debit cards.

  • Was not happy with mine at all. Went up about $300. for the year. Rough on people with limited income.
