Thursday, April 20, 2017

Ms. Caitlyn Gail Lee Switzer, 20, of Waynetown, joined several of her family members in heaven on Wednesday morning, April 19, 2017.

Caitlyn was a spirited young woman who was born on Aug. 28, 1996 at Crawfordsville, the daughter of Keith Switzer and Kristy Cromwell.

She spent most of her life growing up in the Waynetown community and attended North Montgomery High School and graduated from Whiteland High School in May 2015. She was a member of the Crawfordsville American Legion Auxiliary, was described by her family and friends as a "selfie queen," and loved riding her 4-wheeler and spending time with animals.

Caitlyn is survived by her father and stepmother, Keith and Shannon Switzer of Waynetown; her mother, Kristy Cromwell of Franklin; brother Corbin Cromwell of Roachdale; maternal grandparents Jim and Kathy "Bobo" Cromwell of Roachdale; paternal grandfather Terry Switzer of Waynetown; paternal great-grandfather Glenn Switzer of Lake Placid, Fla.; stepgrandparents Steve and Marilyn Truax of Crawfordsville; aunts Dawn (husband David) Biggs and Denise (husband Donny) Ottenburg of Crawfordsville.

She is also survived by several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins and her two dogs, Bandit and Cali.

Caitlyn was preceded in death by her grandmother, Leah Switzer; great-grandmother Mary Switzer; stepgrandmother Connie Truax; grandparents Max and Shirley Parker and her uncles, Kevin Parker and Richard Keith Parker.

Funeral services for Caitlyn will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at "Switzer's Pond," located at the intersection of county roads 875 West and 200 North, southwest of Waynetown, with Rev. Kevin Howey officiating. Burial will follow in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the pond on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the services at 3 p.m.

Because of her love for animals the family recommends memorial donations be made to the Montgomery County Animal Welfare League, 1104 Big Four Arch Rd., Crawfordsville, IN 47933. Envelopes will be available at the services.

Shoemaker Funeral Home of Waynetown is assisting the family with these services.
