Thursday, April 20, 2017

Putnam County Public Library will be offering four computer classes in May.

The computer classes being offered are hands-on classes and are designed to introduce patrons to specific tools. On Friday, May 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Introduction to Cloud Computing will introduce patrons to cloud computing, demonstrate free cloud software from Google and Microsoft, and explain why cloud computing is the way the world will be using computers in the future.

On Tuesday, May 16 from noon to 2 p.m., Managing Your Digital Photos will discuss the basics of importing digital photographs from your camera or phone to your computer; give tips on organizing large numbers of photos; introduce new and creative ways of managing photos across different devices like phones, tablets and cameras; and demonstrate some basic photo editing techniques.

On Tuesday, May 23 from noon to 2 p.m., Introduction to Word Processing will introduce patrons to using typewriter-like word processing software like Microsoft Word and discuss cheaper and free alternatives to Microsoft.

On Tuesday, May 30 from noon to 2 p.m., Advanced Word Processing will discuss the more advanced features of modern word processing software.

All classes are for beginners and are free and open to the public but registration is required since space is limited. Classes are two hours long with a break.

To sign up for any of the upcoming classes, view the library website at PCPL21.org, call Mike at 653-2755 Ext. 118, or stop by the library at 103 E. Poplar St., Greencastle.
