The recent Greencastle Pub Crawl for Colon Cancer Awareness and Prevention was not only a musical, culinary and libations hit but a fundraising success as well.

The first-time event March 11 grossed a total of $4,580.19, pub crawl organizer Donovan Wheeler has announced.

Gift basket winners were also announced after a drawing witnessed by Wheeler, Joe Buser of Putnam County United Way and Nancy Mark of the Putnam County Convention and Visitor Bureau.

Winners were:

T-Shirt and $20 gift card from Wasser Brewing Co. -- Devan Allen.

T-shirts and pint glasses from Putnam Inn -- Krystal Becker.

Chicago Cubs emblazoned bottle of Rum Chata from The Swizzle Stick -- Phil Archer.

Bottle of Fuzzy’s Vodka autographed by Indianapolis 500 driver Ed Carpenter from Moore’s Bar and Grill -- Cindy Hennette.

Large gift basket full of goodies from Boulder Run -- Steven Penturf.

One night’s stay and gift card from Inn at DePauw and The Fluttering Duck -- Matt Mullinex.

Meanwhile, Wheeler said plans are under way to offer the net total to Greencastle resident Josh Brown, director of patient engagement services and HIPAA compliance officer for Indianapolis Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

Brown is expected to see that the funds assist needy Putnam County candidates seeking treatment or preventative services.
