County Jail

Three people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Tuesday

• At 3:29 p.m. Jessica Ann Bushong (Kenworthy), 32, Greencastle, was lodged at the jail on a pair of local warrants.

• At 2:42 p.m. Bill Edward Craig, 75, Greencastle, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 2:11 p.m. Michael DeWayne Grimes, 33, Fillmore, was arrested for violation of home detention.

City Police

Two recent arrests were reported by Greencastle City Police officers.

• At 3:02 a.m. Thursday, Mark Boehm, 39, Greencastle, was arrested by Officer Matt Huffman.

Taken into custody at the College Inn on Bloomington Street on a Putnam County warrant for domestic battery, Boehm was lodged in the Putnam County Jail.

• At 12:40 a.m. Thursday, Edward Reeves, 21, Brazil, was arrested by Sgt. Eric Vaughan behind an East Liberty Street residence.

Reeves was lodged in the Putnam County Jail for theft and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.

Sgt. Vaughan reported that Reeves attempted to siphon gasoline from vehicles parked at Greenwood Apartments.

Four recent citations were issued by City Police officers.

• At 3:02 a.m. Wednesday, Brian Watts, 25, Clayton, was cited by Officer Brad Hiatt.

Stopped on Indianapolis Road, Watts was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 11:41 p.m. Tuesday, Tara Campbell, 30, Greencastle, was cited by Officer Hiatt.

Stopped at College and Melrose avenues, Campbell was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license with a prior offense.

• At 8:16 p.m. Sunday, Michael Hunter was ticketed by Officer Elsiana Crosby.

Stopped on Washington Street, Hunter was cited for an infraction of driving with a suspended license.

• At 7:17 p.m. Sunday, Angela McGrayel, 25, Nashville, was ticketed by Officer Crosby.

Stopped on Bloomington Street, McGrayel was cited for having an expired license plate (July 2016).

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to nine dispatches.

• At 6:46 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD assisted the Cloverdale Fire Department by covering its station (51 W. Market St., Cloverdale) while CFD crews battled a structure fire. GFD returned to station at 7:39 p.m.

• At 12:41 a.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 208 E. Olive St. GFD returned to station at 12:59 a.m.

• At 1:59 a.m. on Thursday, GFD performed an odor investigation after receiving reports of a possible gas leak at 18 S. Jackson St. (Boulder Run Bar and Grill). GFD detected a leak of natural gas in the kitchen of the building. GFD advised the owners of the establishment and contacted Vectren before returning to station at 2:27 a.m.

• At 2:10 a.m. on Thursday, GFD performed an odor investigation after receiving reports of a possible gas leak at 13 Keightly Rd. (Putnam County Jail). After some investigation, GFD contacted jail maintenance workers to shut off gas to the area in which the leak was detected before returning to station at 3:16 a.m.

• At 3:39 a.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm at 605 Crown St. GFD was unable to determine why the alarm had been activated, subsequently reseting the alarm before returning to station at 4:01 a.m.

• At 3:47 a.m. on Thursday, GFD performed an odor investigation after receiving reports of a possible gas leak at 11 Wood St. GFD contacted Vectren after finding a small leak of natural gas before returning to station at 4:48 a.m.

• At 7:06 a.m. on Thursday, GFD performed an odor investigation after receiving reports of a possible gas leak at 309 E. Franklin St. (Greencastle Housing Authority). GFD detected a leak of natural gas around the building’s furnace, prompting crews to shut off any and all gas to the furnace. GFD secured the leak and contacted maintenance crews before returning to station at 7:31 a.m.

• At 8:38 a.m. on Thursday, GFD performed an odor investigation after receiving reports of a possible gas leak at 300 Longcastle Dr. A leak was ultimately found in the furnace area of the residence. GFD reset the alarm before returning to station at 8:58 a.m.

• At 1:27 p.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 208 E. Olive St. GFD reset the alarm and returned to station at 1:49 p.m.
