Lyons said he was blinded by the sun and unable to see the parked vehicle until it was too late to avoid running into it.

Total damage was estimated at $2,500-$5,000.

• At 11:56 p.m. Sunday, Stephanie Reagan, 22, Plainfield, was cited by Reserve Officer Amanda Long.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to five recent property-damage accidents.

• At 10 p.m. on Monday, Daniel C. Pollock, 39, Greencastle, was southbound on Ann Lane at Van Bibber Lake, just south of Linda Lane on an EZ-Go golf cart.

Pollock told Deputy Jeffery Freeman his battery cable slipped and he was trying to fix it. He looked up and crashed into a parked 2004 Kia Sorrento registered to Roy L. Davies.

Damage was less than $1,000.

• At 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, Tiffany L. Poynter, 28, Greencastle, was southbound on County Road 850 West near County Road 590 North in a 2012 GMC Terrain when she hit a deer.

Deputy Jacob Harrington estimated damage at $2,501-$5,000.

• At 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jenny E. Heron, 19, Crawfordsville, was southbound on U.S. 231 just north of County Road 500 North in a 2007 Pontiac G6 when four deer ran across the road.

Heron told Deputy Robert Soilleux she slowed but hit one of the animals.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

• A Rockville motorist was cited for speed unreasonable conditions following a three-vehicle crash in a construction zone.

Due to utility construction on the south shoulder of U.S. 36, the roadway was restricted to one lane, as the eastbound lane was closed and all traffic was being directed into the westbound lane by a flagger.

Kylie L. Lawless, 31, Bainbridge, was stopped westbound in a 2006 Chevrolet HHR. Janice M. Goldberg, 55, Greencastle, was also stopped westbound in a 2014 Toyota Camry.

Michael R. Pender, 57, Rockville, was also westbound approaching the stopped vehicles in a 2017 Dodge Charger.

Lawless told Capt. Tom Helmer that Pender’s car was approaching at a high rate of speed, so she braced for impact.

Pender told officers he applied his brakes and swerved to the north side of the travel portion of the road. His car hit the Lawless vehicle in the right rear before sliding off into a yard.

The impact spun the Lawless to the left and it made impact with the left rear of Goldberg. Lawless came to rest facing southwest in a ditch on the south side of the road.

Only Pender was injured in the accident. Operation Life took him to Putnam County Hospital with a head injury.

Damage was estimated at $25,001-$50,000. All three vehicles were towed.

Also assisting at the scene were Deputy Virgil Lanning, Roachdale Police Officer Adrian Lepine, Bainbridge Fire Department and PMH Ambulance.

• At 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, Dallas S. Savage, 20, Indianapolis, was northbound on U.S. 231 north of U.S. 40 in a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. Gina Y. Carter, 43, Cloverdale, was following Savage in a 2015 Kia Flex.

Carter told Lt. Donnie Pettit that she believed Savage had slowed to turn left into a driveway. However, Savage said he came to a stop for a southbound moped.

Carter said she took her eyes off the road and rear-ended Savage.

Carter’s vehicle was towed. Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.
