Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Dorothy Evelyn P'Pool, passed peacefully April 2, 2017.

Dottie was born the youngest of four children in Princeton, Ky., on April 19, 1925 to Charles and Ruby (Stroube) McCollum. Ruby passed when Dottie was six months old and she was raised by her stepmother, Mary (Hopsen) McCollum.

In March 1948 she married the love of her life, Jackson Randall P'Pool. Jack and Dottie moved to Evansville, where in 1955 they welcomed their son Randy.

In 1962 they moved to lndianapolis where she worked as a nursing assistant at St. Vincent Hospital. After Jack retired in 1981 they moved to Fillmore, into a small home Jack built himself, there they enjoyed their little bit of "heaven."

After Jack's untimely death in 1991 she moved to Danville, where she volunteered at Hendricks County Hospital. Dottie loved people, loved taking care of others, in fact she was awarded "Volunteer of the Year" more than once.

In 2010 she moved to Yakima, Wash., to be closer to family, there she lived at Rexford Manor, where she, of course, had many friends. In 2013 she moved to Willow Springs Care Center, where she lived until her death, always able to see the positive she made many dear friends with fellow residents and staff.

Dottie is survived by her son Randy (Roberta); grandchildren Randi (Cort) and Ryan (Crystal); and great-granddaughters Quinn, Sage, Sloane and Nila.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, infant son Ronnie, her parents, brothers Charles and Larry and sister Mary Elizabeth.

A special thank you to her "honorary" granddaughter Michelle who was always there for her and to the wonderful staff at Willow Springs for the loving care of Dottie.

Service to be held at a later date.
