Beyond Homeless Inc. is opening a new thrift store on Greencastle's north side in the old, iconic Monon restaurant building at 814 N. Jackson St.

The Beyond Homeless Thrift Store, which opens for business on Wednesday, May 10, will offer goods such as clothing, jewelry and other accessories, housewares, books, home décor and more.

All proceeds from the store will go to benefit the shelter and other services offered by BHI.

The thrift store will be open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and possibly expand into additional days and hours as the volunteer base grows.

For volunteer information or to donate items persons may call 765-301-9085 or email michelle@beyondhomeless.com.

"Community support thus far has been overwhelming," Beyond Homeless Executive Director Michelle S. Boller said. "We are so grateful for the opportunity to serve our neighbors in the Putnam County region who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of becoming homeless due to extreme poverty."

Beyond Homeless offers residential services to women and children, homeless prevention assistance to keep individuals in their existing homes and homeless assistance to men.

BHI celebrated three years of service this past April and looks forward to serving the community for many years to come.

  • Great! I'm looking forward to coming in there. I love bargains, but mostly helping other people.
