ELLETTSVILLE — The Western Indiana Conference does not award “athlete of the meet” honors for its track and field competitions, but if the organization did there would have been no question about the winner at Tuesday night’s competition.

Greencastle sophomore Emma Wilson completed a perfect night with victories in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 events and also ran a leg on the winning 4x800 relay team as the Tiger Cubs easily won the team competition with 117 points. Brown County was second with 84, while South Putnam finished seventh with 46, North Putnam was ninth with 26 and Cloverdale was 12th with 14.

Wilson set meet records last year in both the 1,600 and the 3,200, but did not pass those marks this year. She did establish a new meet record in the 800, however, as her time of 2:21.26 was more than two seconds better than that of Edgewood’s Angela Hacker in 2011. Hacker now competes for DePauw University.

No other Tiger Cubs earned first-place honors, but North Putnam’s Emily Gasho placed first in the discus with a toss of 124-2 after finishing second as a freshman last year.

Greencastle showed great depth in recording the win, however.

Finishing in second place for the Tiger Cubs were Sydney Lewis in the pole vault, Sydney Kallem in the 3,200 and Jada Amis and Mia Stevens (in a tie) in the shot put. Other Greencastle scoring points were Seelye Stoffregen (third in both hurdles events), Erin Thomas (seventh in the 100 hurdles, sixth in the 300 hurdles), Keridan Hollis (fifth in the 100, sixth in the 200), Kallem (fifth in the 1,600), Allison Stevens (eighth in the long jump), Nailah Ray (fifth in the discus), the 4x100 relay team of Hollis, Bailey Shuee, Thomas and Stoffregen (second place) and the 4x400 relay team consisting of Shuee, Stoffregen, Thomas and Hollis (third place).

Those athletes placing for South Putnam were Aubrey Barker (second in high jump and long jump, sixth in 100), Lexi Vanihel (fourth in 1,600), Caitlin Capps (sixth in discus), Ally Nichols (third in 800), Chelsie Edwards (third in 400), the 4x400 relay team consisting of Lois Cheatham, Vanihel, Nichols and Edwards (sixth place) and the 4x800 relay team consisting of Vanihel, Alex Fanning, Edwards and Nichols (fifth place).

Other athletes earning points for North Putnam were Ashley O’Neal (eighth in 100, seventh in high jump), Gasho (fifth in shot put), Lyndi Parent (seventh in discus), the 4x400 relay team consisting of Cari Strasburger, Aleah Duncan, Sarah Fry and Hannah Sims (eighth place) and the 4x100 relay team consisting of Fry, Sims, Duncan and O’Neal (third place).

Cloverdale athletes scoring points were Kenzie Stoltz (sixth in 100 hurdles, fourth in pole vault), Kamrie Monnett (eighth in 300 hurdles) and the 4x100 relay team consisting of Grace Rightmyer, Grace Leonard, Stoltz and Arianna McCracken (fifth place).

Cascade’s Emelia Bryant was a double winner in the hurdles events, while Sullivan’s Nikki Hutchcraft — who will run at Division I Evansville next year despite a history of four knee surgeries — won the 100 and the 200.
