County Jail

Nine people were booked in the Putnam County Jail recently.

Wednesday

• At 4:22 p.m. Jesse Madison Barker, 36, Roachdale, was lodged at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

• At 1:27 p.m. Jacob Michael Alexander, 24, Coatesville, was taken into custody on a pair of local warrants.

• At 11:33 a.m. Laure Lynn Eyre, 47, Indianapolis, was arrested on a local warrant.

• At 3:26 a.m. Kyle Fisher, 23, Fillmore, was housed at the jail on an out-of-county warrant.

Tuesday

• At 9:27 p.m. Honey Reed, 39, Cloverdale, was charged with operating while intoxicated.

• At 8:31 p.m. Robert Johnathan Speedy, 18, Cloverdale, was booked in for battery.

• At 3:27 p.m. Toby Lee Soltermann, 43, Rockville, was lodged at the jail on a local warrant.

• At 11:30 a.m. Chad Matthew Fiscus, 31, Danville, was taken into custody on a local warrant.

• At 11:18 a.m. Gary Zhang, 20, Danville, was arrested for invasion of privacy.

City Police

A 39-year-old Greencastle man is being charged with theft and criminal mischief after allegedly stealing a neighbor’s water meter and illegally obtaining city water, Greencastle City Police reported.

• At 8:58 a.m. Monday, Officer Kyle Lee arrested Jacob Archer at an Avenue F residence, lodging him in the Putnam County Jail.

Police said Archer’s water had been shut off and the meter locked by the Water Department. He reportedly then took someone else’s meter and put it on his own system to illegally activate the water line.

Police had no dollar amount associated with the reported theft.

Sheriff’s Department

Putnam County sheriff’s deputies responded to two recent property-damage accidents.

• At 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Gunars A. Freimans, 64, Danville, was southbound on County Road 900 East, south of County Road 1100 North, in a 1995 Chevrolet truck.

Freimans told Lt. Donnie Pettit he took his eyes off the road and lost control of the vehicle. The truck left the road and hit a power line.

Damage was estimated at $5,001-$10,000.

• At 11:40 a.m. on Monday, Aaron M. Parker, 23, Cloverdale, was westbound on County Road 800 South just east of U.S. 231 in a 2004 International semi tractor pulling a trailer.

Parker told Lt. Pettit he rounded a curve and was approaching a car that had moved to the edge of the road for him to pass. However, the wheels on the rear of the trailer crossed left of center, sideswiping the car.

Brittany N. Walker, 27, Greencastle, was eastbound in a 2000 Mercury Cougar and said she had moved as far right as possible but her car was sideswiped by the truck.

Damage was estimated at $2,501-$5,000.

City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to two dispatches and six medical assists.

• At 5:29 p.m. on Tuesday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 415 S. Locust St. GFD reset the alarm before returning to station at 5:42 p.m.

• At 11:48 a.m. on Thursday, GFD responded to a fire alarm due to cooking at 410 S. Indiana St. GFD reset the alarm before returning to station at 11:58 a.m.
