Jack E. Patterson

Jack E. Patterson, 87, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness.

Jack was born in Greencastle on Sept. 3, 1929, the son of John Leroy and Opal (Grimes) Patterson.

He was a 1948 graduate of Greencastle High School.

Mr. Patterson proudly served as a military police officer in the United States Army during the Korean War, achieving the rank of corporal.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW.

He worked for many years for Skelton-Skinner Lumber for many years then began working for his brother Don Patterson's hauling business until his retirement in 2007.

Survivors include three sisters, Kay Gilley (Bob), Greencastle, Doris McMains, Greencastle, and Sue Inman, Greencastle; a brother, Don Patterson (Adrenne), Greencastle; three children, Jackie Bond (Sam), Bedford, Chris Patterson (Vicky), Greencastle, and Janet Patterson, Greencastle; two grandchildren, Chris and Jared Bond; a great-grandson, Alexander Bond; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, his wife of 64 years, Wanda (Hurst) Patterson, four sisters and five brothers.

A private family burial and service will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.
