Banner Graphic: How long have you been playing softball?

Skylar Price: “I’ve been playing softball since T-ball, and haven’t stopped. I started playing travel ball in middle school. I became a starter in the outfield my sophomore year. I’ve had my ups and downs, but I have improved at both hitting and fielding.”

BG: Describe your experience at Cloverdale and how it has helped you for the future.

SP: “I love Cloverdale. They challenge you, and we take our academics very seriously. The teachers expect us to do our best and they help us with anything we need. Mr. [Karl] Turk is definitely one who has helped me a lot even though he’s only been here for a year. He got to know me very early, and he has helped me keep track of everything I need to do. He double checks that I get all my work done, and he is a huge part of my success this year. In my freshman year I kind of slacked off, like a lot of people do, but I really had to step it up this year.”

BG: What other things do you do besides schoolwork and softball?

SP: “I am obviously with my softball team and my friends, and we are often doing something that involves softball. We will get together to watch movies, and my house is kind of the hangout place. They all like horror movies, and I absolutely hate them but I sit there in total fear. and crying. They try to tell me that it’s not real, but I still get scared. I also like to go to a lot of concerts, mostly country. I love the enthusiasm and the atmosphere.”

BG: What are your future plans?

SP: “I have signed to play softball at Franklin, and I’m going to go there to major in athletic training. I’d like to be a sports team trainer, maybe at a high school or a college, or even a pro sports team.”

BG: What is something you have never done before that you would like to do someday?

SP: “I want to do a student exchange program abroad through Franklin. I know people from there have gone to Greece or Italy. I would like to go to Italy. I love Rome, and looking at the pictures it’s definitely somewhere I would like to go.”

BG: Do you have any great fears?

SP: "Spiders. I hate them. They are not my thing at all.”

BG: What are your favorite and least favorite foods?

SP: “My favorite would be macaroni and cheese shells, and my least favorite would be green vegetables. I eat celery and lettuce, and that’s it.”

BG: Do you have any pets?

SP: “I love cats. I have three cats, four kittens and a dog.”
