PUTNAMVILLE -- An Indianapolis woman had her plans to visit a Putnamville Correctional Facility (PCF) offender cut short recently when she was arrested on drug charges.

Acting on intelligence gathered from within the facility, Correctional Police Officers Fernell McDonald and Esther Hinton met Amanda Harris, 32, after she was processed for a visit to see her incarcerated fiancé.

During questioning, Harris told the officers she had drugs hidden in her mouth which she had arranged to give to offender Patrick Wilson. She reportedly turned over approximately 55 suboxone strips contained in plastic to authorities.

Wilson is serving several consecutive sentences out of Marion County, including robbery, possession of cocaine, burglary and theft. Currently he has an earliest possible release date of Nov. 11, 2021.

Wilson, who is being investigated for his part in the reported incident, is being held in the facility’s restricted housing unit.

Harris was placed under arrest without incident and transported to the Putnam County Jail. She faces preliminary charges of attempted dealing in a Schedule III drug, a Level 5 felony, as well as attempted trafficking with an inmate (controlled substance), also a Level 5 felony.

PCF Supt. Brian Smith warned about the consequences of attempted trafficking with an inmate.

“If you try to bring drugs or any other contraband into our facility, expect to be arrested and charged,” Smith said.
