PUTNAMVILLE — Closed since mid-March after failing an inspection, a 19th-century iron bridge in Warren Township has reopened.

On Tuesday, the Putnam County Highway Department announced the reopening of Bridge 187 on County Road 25 East.

The 112-foot span, built in 1890 across Doe Creek, is located just north of the old Walker Motel on U.S. 40.

Several beams on the bridge were replaced during the more than two months the bridge was closed.

The six-ton weight limit remains in place on the 127-year-old bridge.
