Jaycee Park, Lieber SRA offer free fishing Saturday, June 3

Wednesday, May 31, 2017

Two local parks will take part in Free Fishing Weekend on Saturday, the last chance in 2017 for adults to fish for free in Indiana.

Jaycee Park in Greencastle and Cagles Mill Lake at Lieber State Recreation Area, Cloverdale, both offer free fishing on Saturday, June 3.

Indiana residents who are age 18 and older can fish public waters without needing a fishing license or a trout stamp.

Other nearby locations participating include Cecil M. Harden Lake at Raccoon State Recreation Area, Lake Waveland, Sodalis Nature Park near Plainfield and Turkey Run State Park near Marshall.

Free Fishing Weekend is an opportunity to take someone fishing who doesn’t already have a license.

It’s also an opportunity to teach families how to fish because adults don’t need a license on those days, and kids younger than age 18 never need a license.
