Bridge project will close SR 236 in Parke County

GUION — A portion of State Road 236 in Parke County will be in the closed later this month for a bridge project, the Indiana Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

The bridge deck overlay project will close State Road 236 just west of the State Road 59 junction on or after Monday, June 12.

The contractor will be overlaying the bridge deck over Little Raccoon Creek.

The roadway is scheduled to reopen on July 1, 2017.

The detour utilizes State Road 59 to U.S. 36 to U.S. 41 and back.

This bridge deck overlay and superstructure replacement project was awarded to HIS Constructors for $2.5 million.

The contract also includes several bridges in Boone, Fountain, Montgomery, Parke and Putnam counties, including two ongoing projects on U.S. 231 near Brick Chapel and Raccoon.

INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a construction zone.
