The Area 30 Career Center Law Enforcement program recently received a $306.76 donation from the Putnam County Fraternal Order of Police in the memory of Putnam County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Jim Baugh, who gave the ultimate sacrifice in January 2004 while serving in the line of duty.

Capt. Baugh was a dedicated career police officer and a family man who worked tirelessly to protect the citizens of Putnam County. He was also well known as a major force in the training and development of police officers throughout Indiana. His legacy continues through the thousands of police officers he taught over his 32-year law enforcement career.

The Putnam County FOP honors the memory of Capt. Baugh with this donation. The $6.76 pays homage to Jim Baugh, as his badge number was 67-6.

Since 2011 the Putnam County FOP has contributed more than $2,500 in funding and scholarships to the Law Enforcement program at Area 30 in memory of Capt. Baugh.

Local criminal justice officials are completely committed to making the Law Enforcement class at Area 30 accessible to any interested student, regardless of their financial background. In order to help support incoming students and their families, the Area 30 Law Enforcement Advisory Board has launched an exciting campaign to help provide Law Enforcement students with uniform gear.

Money raised each year will be used to reduce financial barriers for those interested in the one-year program, including the purchase of a complete uniform for each student.

To make a contribution that can make a life-changing impact on a local student, make tax-deductible donations payable to: Area 30 Law Enforcement Quartermaster, 1 N. Calbert Way Greencastle, IN 46135.

Donations may also be dropped off at Area 30 Career Center c/o Capt. Charles Inman.
