PCH Cancer Center offering navigation program to patients

Monday, June 19, 2017

The care team members at Putnam County Hospital Cancer Center have developed a Breast and Lung Cancer Navigation Program.

Navigation is a process of care management that begins when a person receives a suspicious finding on their mammogram, nodule in their lung or a cancer diagnosis. This one-on-one assistance helps to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment by addressing needs that may arise during this experience.

Dedicated cancer navigators are nurses with specialized training and knowledge of specific cancers and a great compassion for those struggling with cancer. The nurse navigator is a liaison to enhance quality and continuity of care and help guide through all of the complexities that a diagnosis of cancer can create.

The navigators at Putnam County Hospital Cancer Center currently specialize in breast and lung cancers.

The Navigation Program is free to patients. For more information, persons call 655-2581.

PCH Cancer Center has provided cancer care for more than 30 years with an American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer accredited cancer program.

Partnering with Franciscan Health, and utilizing the same treatments recommended by the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), the Putnam County Hospital Cancer Center offers nationally renowned cancer care.
