City Fire

The Greencastle Fire Department recently responded to two dispatches.

• At 11:13 a.m. on Sunday, GFD responded to a smoke scare at 620 Primrose Ln. (Greencastle Christian Church). Smoke reportedly made its way into the building and into the sanctuary area, causing alarm by many church-goers. The smoke was ultimately found to have been caused by a malfunctioning fan motor in the building’s heating and cooling systems, causing the smoke but no fire. Though no fire was present, church services were canceled due to the distraction and uncomfortable nature of the sanctuary as some smoke remained in the room. GFD returned to station at 12:01 p.m.

• At 9:30 a.m. on Monday, GFD responded to reports of a motor-vehicle accident at 1157 Indianapolis Rd. GFD assisted Operation Life with the care of its patients and cleared debris from the roadway before returning to station at 10 a.m.
