BRAZIL -- The Brazil Concert Band and the Jackson Township Community Band will jointly present “The Stars And Stripes Forever” Sunday, July 2.

The free concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Forest Park at Brazil, rain or shine.

The bands will feature World War I marches composed by Lt. Director Matthew S. Huber will share the podium with his children, John and Janelle Huber, along with longtime family friend Francis Massinon.

Janelle, band director at Red River High School in Grand Forks, N.D., plays flute and piccolo with several musical ensembles and will sing “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

John is music director at Turkey Run Schools and plays euphonium in the two bands.

Melanie Huber, John and Janelle’s mother and Matt’s wife, who recently retired from chairing the science department and teaching AP chemistry for 38 years at Terre Haute South Vigo High School is also active with both bands.

Massinon, a native of Brazil, composes and played French horn in the local bands and is now music professor emeritus at Austin Peay University in Tennessee.

Concert-goers will also hear “Over There Overture” by M.L. Lake, “George M. Cohan Patriotic Fantasy” by Yoder, “American Patrol” by Meacham, “Armed Forces Salute” by Lowden and “America, the Beautiful” by arranged by Dragon.
