The Putnam Pride Initiative, a newly formed local group of LGBTQ+ people and allies, enjoyed a Saturday, June 24 picnic at Robe-Ann Park in a fun evening of food and friends.

Everyone who supports equal rights and treatment for the LGBTQ+ community was welcome and encouraged to attend.

Special guests included Greencastle Mayor Bill Dory and Jonathan Balash, president of Spencer Pride. Balash presented a Pride flag and commented on the great attendance at the event, while wishing the PPI much success as members work to bring awareness and acceptance to Putnam County.

Members of the North Putnam High School GSA were also present.

Guests brought a dish to share with others, and children enjoyed a rainbow-colored piņata filled with treats. A craft table, ladder golf and cornhole for kids of all ages also provided fun activities.

Also featured was Zoo Soul, who performed a drum circle at the picnic.
