Four bands highlight July First Friday

Music fans will have no shortage of choices with the July edition of First Friday, set for Friday evening in downtown Greencastle

Four bands will play four venues at four different times as the melodies continue throughout the evening.

Indianapolis cover band My Yellow Rickshaw will bring its eclectic mix of pop, rock bluegrass and R&B to the north courthouse stage at 7 p.m. A group of seven versatile musicians, the band plays a wide range of instruments that reflects its varied set list — guitar, keyboards, bass, drums, fiddle, mandolin, harmonica and melodica.

At 8 p.m. Whiskey Throttle will kick off its set on the South Indiana Street stage.

Wasser Brewing Co. will host a show of its own when Indianapolis-area band the Warrior Kings play on East Franklin Street beginning at 8:30 p.m. The half block east of Vine Street will be closed to accommodate the show.

Finally, local favorite War Radio will play its standing First Friday gig at the Swizzle Stick starting at 9 p.m. With a mix of originals and covers, the lineup of Joel and Tosh Everson, Dennis Furr and a guest drummer will play its monthly three-hour set.

Sponsored by Aames Title, this First Friday will feature a number of other entertainment, dining and shopping opportunities.

The entertainment on the north side of the courthouse will begin at 5:30 p.m. with deejay Jim “Figgy” Hardwick, followed by a demonstration from Becky Howard’s Pound Fitness at 6 p.m.

The new product lines from Dixie Chopper will also be on display on the north side of the courthouse.

Meanwhile, the ZooSoul Drum Circle will be featured on South Indiana Street ahead of the Whiskey Throttle show.

Area food vendors will food and drink specials throughout the evening include Almost Home/Swizzle Stick, Myers’ Market-Myers’ 5 East, Wasser Beer, Scoops, Completely Nuts and Candy, Moore’s, Tap House 24 and the Inn at DePauw.

Additionally, Greencastle Farmers’ Market booths and lemonade stands will be set up on the east side of the courthouse.

Other downtown contributors will include Conspire: Contemporary Craft, Crickets, plants from Mossy Carrico of Asbury Towers Retirement Center, tours of Castlemakers at 19 E. Franklin St., Putnam County Comprehensive Services art available at the Convention and Visitors Bureau as well as coneys and root beer sponsored by Putnam County Habitat for Humanity.

As always, local artitist will be demonstrating and selling their work on Indiana Street starting at 6 p.m., with a wide variety of vendors set up in various locations throughout the evening.
