BRAZIL -- The Clay County Historical Society will host a National Road Movie Night on Monday, July 10, at Walnut Theater in Brazil.

The National Road documentary “Movers and Stakers” will be shown at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

“Movers and Stakers” tells 13 stories of historic people and places along the National Road. “Movers“ were people who migrated west, while “stakers” developed towns, churches, colleges and industry.

The documentary focuses on the stretch of U.S. 40 between Richmond and Terre Haute, which of course, includes the Putnam County segment.

“We are promoting U.S. 40 so people realize the heritage and importance U.S. 40 played in our history,” Clay County Historical Society president Vicki Mace said.
