Covered Bridge Harmony, the Greencastle chapter of Harmony, Inc., an international organization of female a cappella singers specializing in the barbershop harmony style, will perform at 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 16 at the Forest Park Band Shell in Brazil.

The Brazil Concert Band will follow with its performance.

“We always look forward to bringing barbershop harmony to the community,” chapter president Denise Thede said. “The Covered Bridge Harmony chorus will perform some patriotic songs, a couple of songs from ‘Hello Dolly,’ and some tried and true favorites.”

Founded in 2003, the group was originally named Covered Bridge Country Chorus.

The chorus changed its name to Covered Bridge Harmony chorus to better identify as an a cappella group that sings in the barbershop style.

Covered Bridge Harmony chorus brings four-part a cappella harmony to the local community through regular performances and educational events and also competes in Harmony, Inc. sponsored contests and conventions in the United States and Canada.

The chorus consists of women representing a wide range of musical backgrounds, from novices to trained professionals and performs under the direction of Sara Stone.

Covered Bridge Harmony rehearses at 7 p.m. on Mondays during the summer at the Greencastle Presbyterian Church.
