11th annual National Night Out set for Tuesday evening at Robe-Ann Park
The 11th annual National Night Out is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 1 from 5-8 p.m. at Robe-Ann Park in Greencastle.
Rain date is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 3, same time and location.
As always, the event will provide an evening of fun and entertainment for families with children in elementary to middle school.
Each family will need to stop by the registration table to receive a wrist band which entitles participants to all the fun events taking place in addition to enjoying all the food items. Hot dogs, pizza, snow cones, apples, popcorn and drinks will be available.
Remember, this event is and will continue to be free for all families in attendance.
When receiving wrist bands, participants will also be given a bingo card. Cards will be color coordinated to school corporation colors to help the committee track how many youth and school communities are served. The card must be completed by visiting various activities for a bingo, at which point participants will be directed to the Safe Schools Booth to receive backpacks filled with general school supplies.
School supplies are divided into kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth grade and sixth through eighth grade.
The following agencies will be participating: Army Corps of Engineers, Children’s Bureau – Community Partners, Department of Child Services, Cummins Behavioral Health, Department of Natural Resources, Duke Energy, First Baptist Church – Giving Garden, Hamilton Center, Greencastle Fire Department, Greencastle Parks and Recreation and Greencastle Aquatics Center, Greencastle Police Department, Indiana Excise Police, Indiana State Police, John Hennette DDS, Jean Holder DDS, Greencastle Kiwanis, Mental Health America of Putnam County, Purdue Cooperative Extension, Putnam County Family Support Services/Cycle Program, Putnam County Hospital, Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office, Putnam County Adult and Juvenile Probation; Putnam County Community Corrections, Putnam County Operation Life, Putnam County Public Library, Putnam County Safe Schools, Putnam County Sheriff’s Department; PIE Coalition, Roachdale Police Department, Cloverdale Police Department, Stat Flight, Teachers Credit Union, Bridges Out of Poverty, CARS – Head Start, Beyond Homeless, and UAW Local 2382 Education Committee.
Free swim begins at 6 p.m. and runs through 8 p.m.
Additionally, participants should keep their wrist band, as it is also the entry for raffle prizes.
