Application for 2018 Lilly Scholarship now open through Putnam Foundation

Monday, July 31, 2017

The Putnam County Community Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2018 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. The online application is available on the Community Foundation website, www.pcfoundation.org.

The prestigious annual scholarship will provide the county winner with full-tuition, including a $900 book stipend per year, for four years to any accredited Indiana college or university.

Selection criteria for the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is based on scholastic abilities and intellectual pursuits, capacity to lead and motivate fellow students, social commitment and extracurricular involvement, and the ability to articulate career plans that demonstrate motivation and initiative. Yearly, the award goes to the most outstanding high school senior in Putnam County.

“While this application is much earlier than our regular scholarship applications which will open Nov. 1, 2017, identifying Lilly Scholars earlier in the school year gives them more time to decide which college or university to attend,” Foundation Director of Community Development Dean Gambill said.

The 2018 Putnam County Lilly Endowment Community Scholar will be named in mid-December 2017.

“The 2018 Scholar will receive our community’s 37th Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship,” Community Foundation Executive Director Elaine Peck said. “We are thrilled to provide this scholarship opportunity to Putnam County students.”

North Putnam High School senior David John Flannelly was named the 2017 Lilly Endowment Community Scholar.

Questions about scholarships should be directed to Gambill at 653-4978 or dgambill@pcfoundation.org.
