District 44 State Rep. Jim Baird (R-Greencastle) is serving on the Interim Study Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The committee will examine assigned topics, gather testimonies and recommend potential legislation for the 2018 legislative session.

“Agriculture is an extremely important industry in Indiana,” Rep. Baird, a former county ag agent himself, said. “This interim, I am looking forward to helping this committee study the impact of concentrated animal feeding operations on suburban and urban areas as well as whether there is any need for specific regulations or reforms moving forward.”

Baird said interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. The site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas.

Members of the public are welcomed to attend and testify.

Baird represents House District 44, which includes all of Putnam County and portions of Clay, Morgan, Owen and Parke counties.
